I Try to Stick to One Book, Honest!

The first book I read that impacted my life for the better was “Erroneous Zones” by Dr. Wayne Dyer. I was 18 years old and had developed my skills of worry and guilt to perfection and they were both driving me crazy. Dr. Dyer spoke directly to me.  One chapter in that book discussed why these two emotions were useless. It just never occurred to me that I had a choice. This revelation was a huge “aha moment” for me.

As time went on, books played a huge part in my life.  It seemed to me that whenever I had a problem or concern, the right book would appear.  Authors like Harvey McKay, Stephen Covey, Tony Robbins, Deepok Chopra, Jim Rohn, Thomas Moore, Tom Peters and so many more I can’t name them.

My books became my friends as I moved around the country.  I found my answers and more questions and most importantly, I learned.

The above quote is one of my favorites by Jim Rohn.  My memory isn’t great and yet I find myself remembering quotes and important ideas from the books I’ve read.

When Covid 19 put us all in stay-at-home mode I again turned to my friends. I finally had time and energy to read and reread some of my favorite books.  Now there has been additional learning added in the form of Podcasts, Blogs, YouTube, and the Internet.

I still trust my books more than any other form of self-education.

This is the list of the seven books I am reading or re-reading right now.  I only hope I’ll live long enough to read everything I want to read.

#1 Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

After interviewing more than five hundred of the most affluent men and women of his time, Hill uncovered the secret to great wealth, based on the notion that if we can learn to think like the rich, we can discover wealth and success.  He developed a simple but powerful thirteen-step formula to help you obtain whatever you want in life.

#2 Millionaire Success Habits by Dean Graziosi

In Dean’s words, “This book is not about adding more time to your day.  It is about replacing those things that are not serving your future with success habits designed specifically to assist you on your journey to a better you.”

#3 Unlimited Power by Anthony Robbins

I got hooked on Tony Robbins when I attended the virtual Unleash the Power Within Seminar.  Many of the concepts we applied are found in this amazing book. Tony calls this book “a revolutionary fitness book for the mind.” He says it will show you, step by step, how to perform at your peak while gaining emotional and financial freedom, attaining leadership and self-confidence, and winning the cooperation of others.  He goes on to say that “Unlimited Power is a guidebook to superior performance in an age of success.”

#4 Underdog Advantage by Dean Graziosi

If you’ve ever felt like and imposter and like you’ve missed your chance this is a great read for you. Dean takes the traits you might see as a disadvantage and turns it into an advantage or an opportunity. “So…what if being an underdog was actually your ultimate unfair advantage?” Great question and one I found worthwhile to explore.

#5 Traffic Secrets by Russell Brunson

This book talks about the challenge of understanding the essential skill of getting traffic (or people to find you and your website. And then to become your customer and your repeat customer.

#6 Do it Scared by Ruth Soukup

Ruth encourages you to find the courage to face your fears and to do it anyway, whatever it may be.  Her goal is for you to create a life you love.  This book includes fresh ideas and inspiration and a huge serving of “tough love’. The goal is to motivate you to start making changes that lead to big results.
