50th Birthday – Setting Goals for the Year

OMG – this year will mark my 50th birthday.  Thinking about this has brought to mind some things that need to change and some goals I need to achieve.  I’m currently single, overweight, and will soon have no kids at home.  It’ll be just me and the animals.  Do I want to spend the next part of my life in the same way that I’ve been living?  I’ve decided that one of my goals for this 50th birthday year is to get rid of my extra weight.  (I’d say lose weight, but according to The Secret way of speaking, “losing” something implies you’d want to find it again.)  I’ve been talking about this for many years, but have not been successful in any attempts.  I’ve tried a multitude of diets or modifications to my “way of life”, but I only seem to last for about 2 weeks before things fizzle out.  This year needs to be different.  I’m tired of being this way, tired of the criticism I receive about it, tired of all of it.

Another goal for my 50th birthday year is to get my house in order.  That one is off to a good start.  For Christmas, I received a Roomba and I LOVE IT!!!  It vacuums my house every day at 10 am.  It may not be perfect, but it’s better than nothing.  With the number of animals in my house, I need something to help with the rolling hairballs around.  I also want to have the clutter out of my house, so I’m working on the Fly Lady plan of cleaning.  So far, so good.  (Oh – by the way – the Roomba DOES vacuum over dog poop and spread it through the house… LOL)

My final goal for my 50th birthday year is to walk the dogs daily.  This hasn’t gone so well.  For the winter months, I always have an excuse for not walking them because I’m afraid of slipping on the snow and ice.  My solution was to buy walking-cleats from Amazon.  I bought one pair and before I could even get them out of the box, one of the dogs ate them.  Box and all.  So – I proceeded to buy another pair and guess what…  They ate those too!!!

All in all – I’ve got a long way to go, but I’m determined to get there.  Keep following us to watch my progress.  I want this to be an AMAZING year!!
