My dog is my best friend and companion. She can be snuggled, talked with, and enjoyed. My current dog is a bit bossy but this is in a good way. She tells me when to feed her when to feed myself, when to go to bed, and when to get up. She squeeks when she needs to go outside and even points her muzzle toward the treats she wants on top of the refrigerator. She literally keeps me from focusing on myself and keeps me extending myself for her care. She also barks when someone is at the door and she lets me know when someone is outside to make sure it’s OK with me.
A telephone would be my second have-to-have. If I need help or have a problem, I want to be able to call and get that assistance. I would stay away from a fancy phone with too many apps. I would use Facebook on a limited basis to keep up with my friends.
I must admit that I would be extremely lost without my television. When I am feeling lonely and bored, I find it uplifting to spend an hour or two watching an interesting story. I also tune into the latest news to keep myself informed about what is going on in the world.
To be truly comfortable, I would need a cozy pair of warm pants and a matching top. If I feel cold I can’t relax and enjoy my other needs.
These five needs are the ones that come into my mind off the top of my head. Could there be items that are more important? Possibly. I would definitely want good material to read. With my phone, I could use the Audible app. Yet I know that I prefer the feeling of holding and reading a real book.
To tell the truth, I could live with the above five items if I knew that there was a light at the end of the tunnel and one day I could return to a more expansive life. It would be challenging because, without my family at my side, I would feel truly lost. I could live the simplistic life for a short term like living in a tiny cottage for a month for a payoff of a million dollars or so. I hope this never becomes my reality. I need my family first. My five things second.
