No Stress Allowed

So many times in my life, I would wake up and the first thing I would focus on would be all of the things I would need to accomplish for the day or the stress of yesterday, which would negatively influence my day. It wasn’t until recently that I realized that I am in charge of how my day will be and how I handle my stress.
Another item I’ve come to realize is that there is no reason to stress out over things that haven’t yet happened. I could worry and stress about being successful in my new role at my job or if my kids will grow up to be happy adults or a multitude of other thing, but what I’ve learned over the years is that there is no reason to stress out until there is an actual reason for the stress.
Every day we encounter things in our lives that can cause us stress, but if we have the choice of how it is going to affect us. Instead of immediately buying into the anxiety, I try to be rational about the situation. Am I overthinking it? Is this really something that could happen? Why does this bother me so much? Look at the stressor and try to make sense of it. You may find that there is something completely different that is at the heart of your stress.
