The Power of Pride

prideSome people feel extreme amounts of joy, compassion, or awe when they move throughout their day.  For me, those emotions are among the least experienced.  After taking a positive emotions test on https://www.idrlabs.com, I found that the positive emotion I feel most often is pride.

There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. ‘Good pride’ represents our dignity and self-respect. ‘Bad pride’ is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance.

I’ve been working with computers in one way or another for over 30 years and I feel pretty confident in my abilities to handle many problems that come my way.  I also say that between me and the computer – I will always have the last say…  I will win!

I frequently receive compliments from my customers either from positive comments they share with my employer or from their requests to only work with me from now on.  I’ve taken many problematic accounts and turned them into delighted ones, simply by the work I do for them, the expertise I share, and the professionalism I exhibit.

I get great joy from providing excellent customer service to my clients and when I receive recognition at work for my efforts, my pride knows no bounds.

Another area in which I feel great pride is in the children I’ve raised.  They are all kind-hearted individuals who are courteous in public, affectionate with family, and overall…  really nice people.

I’ve raised all three kids to follow in my footsteps when it comes to work.  They all show pride in their work and even if it’s not their life’s dream to do the job they are in, they do it as if it is.

Jess has worked at a local bank from high school, thru college and even after and is looked to as an authority on processes and procedures.  She is known to be always willing to help even when others won’t.

Nate has had a few jobs while he is searching for his passion, but at each job, he gives it his all and is known to be a hard worker and willing to take on challenging tasks.

Brad has worked at a local factory for the past 7 years and is a floater, being able to work in many areas of the line to cover when others are out.  I’ve been told by people that he works with that he is a kind person and a delight to work with.

I guess the idea of having pride in my work has rubbed off on my kids.  I’m proud to say I did something right with them!!
