Today’s Brain, Yesterday’s Body

yesterday's bodyPicture if you could pick an age you wanted to be for the rest of your life. What would you pick? How would you determine what was the best age to be? I think there would be a few questions I would need answered before I made that decision.

Do I have the knowledge of that age or do I have the knowledge I have now?

For example – if I chose to be 25, am I 25 knowing only what I knew when I was 25 or am I 25 knowing what I do at 53?  If my knowledge doesn’t transfer over I would probably just end up doing the same things again that I did then. If my knowledge doesn’t transfer – I’m not interested in a different age.

Am I going back to that time in my life or is this new age applying starting today?

For example – if I chose to be 25, am I going back to 1995 or will I be a 25-year-old in 2023?  If I’m going back in time to that previous year – I’m not interested in a different age.

Will I continue to age from that point or will I be that age for the rest of my life?

For example – if I chose to be 25, will I always be 25 or will I continue to age?  If I’m going to remain 25 forever – I’m not interested in a different age.

today's brainIdeally – I’d love to be 25 again, but in this day and age, with the knowledge I’ve acquired over the years and I’d want to continue to age normally.  When I was 25, I was just starting out in life.  I was newly married and had my entire life in front of me.  At 25 – things were just beginning.  I didn’t have the challenges of an aging body.

So, I still don’t know the ideal age that I’d want to be, but I know I’d want today’s brain and yesterday’s body.
