The Quiet Side of Wealth

wealthI’ve been a banker most of my adult life. I’ve seen people flaunt their money, living well on the surface. They always seemed to have the means to buy the great house, the fancy car, and all the luxuries that spoke to the world that they were rich.

But I’ve also known many wealthy people. They lived comfortably, yes, with lovely homes and nice cars, but more importantly, they woke each morning without the dread that comes from living beyond their means. They had peace. To me, that’s what true wealth looks like.

Wealth is more than money; it’s the ability to live life on your own terms. It’s having enough resources, financial, emotional, spiritual, and relational, to feel secure, generous, and free.

Somewhere along the line, I slipped into the group that enjoyed the good things in life without building the foundation to feel truly comfortable or at peace. My attitude toward money became constrictive, filled with fear and limitation.

For years, I believed that wealth wasn’t meant for me, that I didn’t deserve it. Wanting more made me feel guilty, as if abundance was something reserved for others. But deep down, I longed for more than financial comfort. I longed for the freedom that comes from feeling aligned and abundant.

In recent years, my perspective has shifted. As I’ve studied to become a transformational coach, I’ve learned that abundance isn’t something we chase; it’s something we create from within. The first step toward wealth is a mindset that supports abundance, gratitude, and self-worth.

With my background in banking and business, I’ve also become a financial coach. This combination has helped me see how often our emotional and financial beliefs intertwine. I’ve had my share of relationship “speed bumps,” and I’ve learned that money, and the mindset surrounding it, is one of the most common sources of conflict. Looking back, the cards I was dealt weren’t always ideal, but how I chose to play them was always up to me.

In this next chapter of my life, I’m making different choices. The lessons I’ve learned and the training I’ve completed are guiding me down a new, more peaceful path. I am in charge. I am the captain of my own ship.

Wealth, I’ve learned, isn’t a number on a bank statement; it’s a state of being. It’s knowing that no matter your age, you can rewrite your story, shift your mindset, and create a life that feels abundant and free. Change is always possible. The journey toward wealth begins within.
