Have to Have it All

Each box is dedicated to a different type of craft

I can’t say that I have a favorite activity or hobby.  I tend to start them, but never carry them to completion.  Over the years, I’ve tried crocheting, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, sewing, making earrings, bead making,  scrapbooking, card making, and more.

If you know anything about me, you know that I’m also a collector.  (see last week’s posting)  When you combine collecting with trying to be a crafter, that leaves you with someone who has to buy all the supplies necessary to create the crafts. I feel like I have to have it all.

For crocheting, I have all different-sized crochet needles, numerous skeins of yarn, and multiple instruction books.  For painting, I have easels, various size canvases, a plethora of brushes, every watercolor you can imagine, and about 50 bottles of acrylic paint.  For the sewing, I have my sewing machine, spools and spools of thread, a multitude of needles, and a steam trunk of fabric.  For the earrings, I have beads, thread, elastic, tools, and all the findings needed.  I also have cup turners, alcohol paints, resin, a vinyl cutting machine, a 12×12” binder overflowing with vinyl, bins of Sculpey clay, mandala dotting tools, a laminator, rolls, and rolls of washi tape, colors, markers, 20 design scissors, reams of scrapbooking paper, books, and books of stickers, and the list just goes on and on…

This is just scratching the surface of my crafting supplies.  I always have grandiose ideas of the things I want to create, but I think my favorite part of this hobby is the purchasing of supplies.  Making the items is never quite as much fun as I anticipate. I’ve told everyone around me that before they go out and buy the supplies to make sure and check with me first.  I’ve probably got what you need!

So maybe I should say my favorite hobby is BUYING the craft supplies.
