All Things Candy

I’m a fan of anything sweet, so I think the best part of Halloween has to be the candy!  From candy bars to smarties, there are not many types of candy I don’t like.

I remember as a kid, having a large plastic pumpkin that I used each year when we’d go trick-or-treating. It always felt like a race to see how much candy I could accumulate in just a short amount of time.  After each house, my friends and I would compare what we each got as we quickly moved on to the next house.  If you came across a house that was giving out handfuls of candy, you felt as if you’d hit the jackpot.

At the end of the evening, we’d sit down and sort out our candy into piles and do the necessary trading (if someone was willing).  I always tried to get rid of the Mounds candy bars, anything black licorice flavor, and of course anything related to candy corn. Some of my favorites were Reeses Peanut Butter cups, Bottlecaps, and anything hot cinnamon flavored.

candyAs an adult, I still love all the varieties of candy and when it comes to Halloween, I have to hold myself back from buying the candy too soon or I’ll eat it all myself and just have to buy more.  I try to buy a variety to please the masses.  My Halloween stash will include: Snickers, Twix, Kit Kats and Milky Ways.  Then for those that don’t like candy bars, I’ll also have: Nerds, Laffy Taffy, Lemon Heads, and Frooties (which are flavored Tooties Rolls).

Each year, I’m always hopeful that we don’t have too many kids coming around because I don’t mind having leftovers, but my waistline will appreciate if it’s all gone at the end of the night.
