How do you downshift or relax after a sometime (most of the time) stressful day, or just an ordinary, could be boring day.
I would like to say that I would leave work, go for a nice casual walk, come home and have a wonderful dinner and then relax for the rest of the night. Unfortunately, this doesn’t ever seem to happen, so when I come home after a very stressful day at work, I like an old-fashioned drink, then I love to (weather permitting) sit out in my patio and just read or listen to the crickets and chill.
Downshifting for me, is also going on outings with family and/or friends. There is nothing like getting away to stay sane. It makes coming home to the hysteria that is usually there bearable.
Downshifting doesn’t always have to be done at night as I seem to be implying. I also love to get up on a bright sunny day, sit and talk with friends and family and share many different ideas or just plain talking.
I also downshift by going to our cottage in Door County. It seems the minute you enter that area, everything just falls into place. This is where I go for walks on the beach, bike ride or walk so that I can see lots of wildlife. It is a very relaxing time. My neighbors, Phil and Kevin, have created a walking trail on their property and I find this to be
a fabulous place to downshift.
