Popcorn and Snuggles

I do not enjoy watching TV regularly.  I have a hard time finding a program that I can enjoy and that is not repetitious or just plain boring.  I do, however, like to watch TV if there is a special movie that I want to see.   Then again, it is getting cold outside and this means outside activities and time spent in our screened-in porch are limited, When it gets dark earlier and is cold outside, then TV tends to be our evening entertainment.  I would rather we use this time to get caught up in those projects that are left to do, but I turn into a mushroom in the evening after supper and fall into that TV-watching mode.

I never really got into TV binge-watching. But this spring, I have a granddaughter, Aubrey, who introduced me to the program Breaking Bad. This isn’t usually my kind of program or a program that I would recommend for younger ages, but I found that I couldn’t get enough of it for some reason and became a bad Grandma, again. Aubrey would do an overnight on a weekend, and we would binge until we had to turn off the TV since it was usually 2:00 a.m. or more.

This went on for a considerable amount of time, and I truly loved having this program to share with her. It isn’t exactly the type of program that a grandparent should watch with a fourteen-year-old, but it certainly kept our attention. We loved talking about the plot and sharing our thoughts on this program when we were not watching it on TV.  I also think that spending this time with my granddaughter far exceeds my interest in watching TV.

Of course, the bowls of popcorn added an extra special draw while snuggled up in bed  in the kid’s room at my house,

I can say I never got into binge-watching before.  The only other excessive TV watching for me were shows weekly like Dallas, Knots Landing, Soap,

So, having put down the phones and video games, Breaking Bad made binge-watching a thing for me.
