French Kissing Frustration

toothI hate my teeth. The first problem is that they are not white, and despite different procedures being completed to correct this situation, they are still not white.

There is more to why my teeth aren’t beautiful:  When I was in grade school and my adult teeth were done growing it became apparent that I was blessed with a wonderful underbite.  This is where my bottom jaw stuck out further than my top teeth. It was decided that I was a good candidate for braces.

We had a family dentist who should have retired long before I was using him.  I had the braces placed on the back of my upper teeth to force them forward, and on the front of my bottom teeth to bring them back in.

It sounded like a great plan, and I am sure it is done successfully every day. This required weekly visits to the dentist to place little rubber bands to tighten the braces and slowly force my teeth into proper placement. This wasn’t a pleasant experience for at least the first day of this rubber band placement, but then the pain subsided until the next weekly adjustment.  This went on for several years.  This particular adjustment was not noticeable because the braces were behind my upper teeth.  Made French kissing also interesting and a surprise to the instigator!

During this process, my dentist seemed to get impatient or frustrated with my progress.  So, to expedite things he pulled my right eye tooth.  In years after other dentists were appalled at this as it caused my mouth to shift unnaturally, also causing my nose to shift.  I might add that my underbite is not as corrected as it should be.

Having a lifelong procedure like this is so important to have a good result.  I did not and to this day I am frustrated and self-conscience of my profile both in the front and side.

To add to this negative result because my eye tooth was removed as I stated it caused my face to shift including my nose.  I was told this wasn’t that noticeable, but I knew better.  I was at a high school play when a boy in front of me turned around facing me, and asked me if I had ever broken my nose.  So, tell me it wasn’t and isn’t noticeable!

When it was my sister’s turn to also have braces several years later, having a different dentist, her teeth turned out to be beautiful.

My one last wish is to have a nice set of white teeth.  Maybe in my next life!!
