Never a Full Night’s Sleep
Getting up in the morning is probably one of the least favorite things I have to do in a day. It does beat the alternative but still is so hard for me to do. I loved working, but having to get up early in the day was what I hated the most. Once at work, it was fine, but oh that desire to sleep in was so tempting. Today I am forced to get up earlier than I would like to, but having two dogs 1. Want to do their morning routine which includes emptying their bladders and 2. Eating. They are ruthless in expressing their needs to the point that getting up is easier than hearing their constant warning that they want me up.
Now, things that keep me up at night are not exactly pleasant things such as partying or having fun. It is usually because I haven’t accomplished or completed something that I should have done ages ago. I used to do my best work at night, but that has changed. I now dread the late nights either getting ready for a holiday or having put off an unpleasant task that can’t be put off any longer. This, of course, requires either a very late night or an all-nighter. One time I stayed up for two straight nights without sleep. I wouldn’t recommend this as you can imagine how I didn’t function for at least two days after. I also during this stupid all-night event started seeing things out of the side of my eyes that weren’t there. I believe this is called hallucinating!
Now that I am older and hopefully wiser the all-nighters don’t happen. If I don’t get a project done it will prevent me from sleeping, but to get up and do it just doesn’t work. My brain doesn’t function late at night like it used to.
At this point in my life, I find I am required to get up several times during the night either tending to the needs of the furry creatures whom I share this house with, or my husband who seems to like taking off his CPAP machine several times during the night just because, and thus creating wind tunnel noises!!!!
So, here’s to a full night’s sleep, and getting up just for me and not because I have to.
