Prom Fashion Failure
When I was in school dances were a big thing. We used to have a dance after every football game, basketball games, and at miscellaneous other times. But, the biggest event was always the Junior Prom.
We hope that someone will ask you to prom. Now today you don’t have to have a date, groups of kids just go together. This is kind of neat, but I feel it takes some of the excitement away from this event. After you got invited you spent many hours planning your wardrobe, and dress, and after the dress was purchased the guy would oftentimes get a tux to coordinate with his partner’s dress. The dance consisted of a nice place to eat and a night of dancing. Getting home before three in the morning was unheard of especially if breakfast was in the plan.
I went to all the proms while in high school, but the one that stood out to me was my first one. I was a sophomore at the time. Art asked me to this prom. Looking back at pictures I can’t believe how hideous I looked. Picture this: My older sister had died her hair auburn and used what was left over to dye my hair. Mine turned out a reddish-orange. To top off this hairdo, my mom had given me a permanent as curly hair was in, and without a perm, my hair would go naturally straight.

My hair was almost shoulder-length. I weighed probably 90 plus pounds and chose a white toule strapless dress which was ankle length. To top off this look I wore red high heels and Art purchased an arm courage of red roses. (to match my hair I suppose!!)
Dear Lord, I looked atrocious. Art, of course, wore a white tux jacket with black pants and had a red rose boutinaire.
This dress was barely held up with my almost A-cup-size boobs. Now the fabric was so picky that my underarms were raw by the end of the evening.
I must have had an o.k. time because I was excited to go again and hopefully someone helped me plan my attire.

We had great times back then, didn’t we?
I also went to all the proms and homecomings. What a blast we had.💕
