Get Your Ass in Gear

procrastinationSomething to let go of?

Procrastination.  This is what I am best at.  Pretty sad, but true.

I don’t remember when this became a trait that I became a master of.

I work better under pressure.  This gets me stressed and upset, but I leave things to the last minute even though I have had plenty of time to get a project or job done.  For some reason, my brain goes into overdrive when under pressure and I do my best work at this time.  When I am done putting myself through this anxious time of putting activities to the last minute, I swear that I will change and work a lot smarter next time.

I procrastinate a lot of times by getting involved in a novel.  I don’t dare start a new book before an event that I need to get ready for because I will find every excuse to continue reading and leave my tasks for the last minute.

I would love to break this habit as it is getting harder with age to push at the last minute.  It also doesn’t allow for unforeseen happenings that might make last-minute unforeseen activities impossible.

The last time I put myself through this was at Christmas.  If it weren’t for my family Christmas might not have happened in my world.  I, again, left most things for the last minute.  This required help from my daughters and grandchildren.  We just barely got the necessary decorating, present wrapping,  and meal preparation ready, and I realized that I needed to shape up now.

And now it is the countdown to Easter and guess what, I am not ready.
