Who is Judy?
My life changed dramatically on April 4, 2023. My husband of 37 years passed away in hospice care in our home. I have had to rethink my life and begin a new chapter without my soulmate.
I decided to return to the banking industry in a role that I have always loved. I am working as a teller and enjoying every moment of each day. I have met a wonderful group of people and feel the support that has been invaluable in navigating this difficult life change.
My best buddy is our dog, Quincy. She keeps me on the straight and narrow. She tells me when to go to bed and reminds me enthusiastically when it’s time for both of us to eat. My only regret is that she can’t talk, although she does try. She has filled a huge void for me, and I appreciate her every day.
Our son Matt is still living close by in Wauwatosa. He makes it a point to come home frequently to check on me and to make sure I’m staying out of trouble. As his Mom, I return the favor.
I am still processing my new role as a widow. Sometimes, it is very hard for me to believe. Thankfully, I have beautiful memories of our past and treasure my time with my Sidetracked Sisters and their families. I’m not sure what I would do without them, and I don’t intend to try.
My happy place is at the family cottage in Door County. We often have fourteen or so family members and at least seven dogs to share our time with. I find heaven on the water with the people I love, talking, walking, biking, or just being. When I see the “Door County” sign, I breathe more easily.

Sidetracked Sisters
Sidetracked Sisters are two sets of two sisters, one generation apart. The older sisters are as different and as much alike as two sisters can be. The name originated to label craft shows we did in our homes each year, especially on “Widow’s Weekend”. We professionally consist of a Retired Paralegal, a Retired Banker, a Retired Teacher, and a hard-working Computer Software Engineer. Sidetracked Sisters allows our creative sides to come out and play. It gives us one more outlet to joke, criticize, insult, tease, and sometimes even support each other. We have also learned that if you want an opinion, we have four different ones to offer.
