Food Coma

Thanksgiving Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday.  Our family takes turns in sharing the different holidays.  Our daughter, Lisa, is always the hostess for Thanksgiving.  This started when my son-in-law, Craig, shared that he  loved to make the turkey.  So, he got the job of hostessing Thanksgiving and dragged his wife, Lisa, along for the ride whether she was in agreement or not.

Quite a few years ago he started cooking the turkey in oil, this being different from our traditional preparation of the bird  in the oven.  He now has a pellet grill in which he will be preparing the turkey this year. Everyone who attends this feast brings a dish to pass.  This usually consists of appetizers and drinks trying hard not to over indulge on snacks, before stuffing ourselves when it is time to devour the huge spread that is put before us.

We like to take this time to reflect on our lives being thankful for our family, friends, our accomplishments, and challenges.  It is also a time to reflect on those that are no longer with us. My husband usually gives the prayer for the day and this is a special moment we all share.

It is a holiday that starts the Christmas season off, but doesn’t require gift-giving.  It is an exciting time of anticipation for the upcoming season.

Thanksgiving I love getting together with family and relatives.  It is a great excuse to all get together and catch up on everyone’s lives.  It is also a time to invite those who have no place to go and enjoy this day with our family.

The hardest part of Thanksgiving is trying not to eat too much.  There seems to be so much tempting food and drinks that you think you’ll not be able to eat for a week.

Here’s to a great Thanksgiving with all the blessings and memories. No need to run around like a crazy person purchasing and wrapping presents.  It is Christmas without the presents and stress.

Did I say I love Thanksgiving?
