A funny story to some isn’t always so funny to the person involved.
My husband was away on a fishing retreat. It was a Friday, I was bored and had decided I needed a change.
I decided at that point that I was sick of how I looked, so I went to a salon and said I wanted a body perm. My hair is naturally straight, but the spring humidity was wreaking havoc with my hair. I had previously dyed it to give it some life and I liked the color. Now, all I needed was a little bit of body or soft waves to complete what I thought would be perfect.
I had the body perm done and when I went to pay the cashier she said it looked great, and she even liked the color. Since I also liked the color when I came in, I thought, what about the color that had changed from when I came in? Well, it had turned bright orange! I was hysterical and mortified all at the same time.
That body perm ended up being the curliest perm that I ever had in my life and it was the last one I had or will ever have. To top things off, it was short, tight curls with the color orange. It took three years for me to grow that stupid hairdo out. Never again.
Then, since this was the weekend that my husband was gone, I had also planned to get all the flower planting done and the yard in shape for summer. This involved me not taking a shower, no makeup, and a faded-out, oversized purple tie-dyed short and top outfit.
When my husband came home, he said, “What the hell have you done to yourself? You looked good when I left!!”
That pretty much summed up how I felt and how I looked. Three years is a l long time to not like how you look. I don’t look good in curls, not to mention orange is not one of my colors.
This was not the best use of my alone time, to say the least.
