Public Speaking Sucks
From the beginning of time, I have been told it is necessary to be able to present yourself in public. What this means is to get up in front of a group, or even just a few people, and give a book report, a speech, or just present an opinion. (But this entails being a single spokesperson and speaking in front of people).
I hate public speaking of any kind to be given by me. From grade school through high school, it was always a given that at some point in time getting up in front of people would be happening. I would get so nervous at one time I actually had an unstoppable laughing episode.
Then I had the luxury of finally becoming an adult. Wow, I could call the shots and do what I wanted to do when I wanted to do it, and if I wanted to do it. Not so fast, I joined several organizations, and guess what, they wanted us all to become public speakers. If you just so happened to be an officer you would definitely have to give reports, run a meeting, or give ideas again in front of a group of people a/k/a public speaking.
As an adult, a big thing was joining learning groups such as Dale Carnegie or public speaking training.
Finally, as an older adult, I had had it. I said “Enough”. I hate public speaking, have never liked it, and I am choosing not to do it.
Now as a very old adult, I still do not participate in this overvalued activity and enjoy small groups of chit chat and am doing just fine not speaking publicly.
