The Luxury of a Stellar Day

luxuryMy idea of luxury has definitely changed over the years.  What I used to think was an idea of luxury would be a big, fancy home, expensive vehicles, a huge bank account, a beautiful wardrobe, and exotic places to travel to.  Well now at this age I have recognized that the idea of luxury is far different than it used to be.

I realized a short while ago that my idea of luxury came to me having just what I have.  I was sitting in my lounge chair on the deck of my cottage in Door County.  It was the most beautiful day of late summer.  The sky was blue with not a cloud in sight, no mosquitos, the weather was perfect with very little humidity, an absolutely stellar day.  Lake Michigan was turquoise with little wave action.  Just enough sound to make it soothing.

I was reading one of my books, feeling grateful to be there experiencing a perfect day.  It made it especially wonderful to hear my family enjoying whatever the cottage had to offer them.  Listening to the sounds of laughter and chattering is always one of my favorite things.  It also helped that the cottage is usually in order with no boring daily tasks that need to be done alone.  It is always fun to share responsibilities with family.

So, there I sat with family all around me, someone cooking a delicious dinner, me in my perfect little world, book and drink in hand.  I also can’t forget two fuzzy-faced pups lying at my feet.

This is what I consider luxury at its finest.
